Sharon Campbell

Sharon Campbell, Secretary

Blue Sage Board of Directors

A little afternoon stroll.

Sharon Campbell has been hanging her hat in Paonia since 2003, by way of St. Louis, MO, where she was born, Kailua, HI, where she grew up, and Grand Junction and Ft. Collins, where she raised her family. Sharon Campbell joined the Blue Sage Board in 2009 when, in a mad moment of community-mindedness, she hoped to bring some organization and continuity to the Board at a time when it was wobbly.

Why did the Board accept her?  It’s simple, because as her work life was split between administration and interior design, she can organize a closet like nobody’s business, and, well, don’t we all have messy closets?  Sharon enjoys serving on the Board because of the Blue Sage’s community aspect; providing a wide variety of artistic, musical, literary, educational and “just plain fun” events.  She loves seeing the Blue Sage broaden its patron base and attracting more kinds of people than in the past.

More than the challenge of a messy closet, Sharon loves Blue Sage events.  Her favorites are Paint Paonia, classical music and Community Monday programs such as “Valley Voices.”  In 2020, she hopes to see even more Blue Sage programming and events for young adults, young families, and children. . . and, yes, another bathroom facility would be nice.

When not planning Paint Paonia or taking notes at board meetings, Sharon volunteers at Barkin’ Bargains, tends to her mom in Grand Junctions, and does the bookkeeping for her husband’s business.  She also likes to quilt small things, read, garden and walk.  When we asked Sharon to tell us her favorite joke, she said:

“This is a family-friendly website, correct?  Why don’t you ask me instead about the lady in church with the lace dress . . .”
