The Blue Sage Center for the Arts in Paonia is gearing up for its annual membership drive which will take place during October. This year the organization will bring its drive into the 21st century by focusing on generating a significant social media presence for the organization’s membership drive through an Express Yourself Selfie Competition. The competition will kick off with a booth in Paonia Town Park on September 26 during Mountain Harvest Festival and encourage individuals to take a photo showing them participating in the arts.
“Membership is the conduit that keeps the Blue Sage well connected to the community it serves,” says Executive Director, Annette Pretorius. “This year we are going to create a strong social media presence with our membership campaign to freshen it up and have more fun. Additionally, social media has really opened up the ability for every person to have a voice, and the arts have always been about self-expression. Bringing an ‘Express Yourself’ campaign to social media for our membership drive seems like a natural fit.”
Anyone can post a selfie to the Blue Sage’s campaign, but only those who are Blue Sage members will be eligible to win the competition. The entry chosen as the favorite at the Blue Sage Membership Meeting on Thursday, October 22 will receive an all-access pass to the Blue Sage for 2016. The all-access pass entitles the holder to free admission to Blue Sage sponsored events for all of 2016.
Those interested in participating simply need to post their selfie using an Instagram account and tag the post with @BlueSageCenter and #ExpressYourself. The Board of Directors and staff will then narrow down the submissions to their top 5 favorites and at the Blue Sage Membership Meeting on Thursday, October 22, members present will select the winning entry. Submissions must be posted by 5pm on Friday, October 16 to be considered for the prize. Full competition details can be found at www.bluesage.org.
