The Blue Sage Center for the Arts Classical Music Program seeks to enrich the community of the North Fork Valley by providing a series of classical concerts and educational events throughout the year. Guest artists from around the country and artist/faculty members from the Aspen Music Festival have visited our beautiful valley and performed in our historic hall giving lecture concerts and master classes to appreciative and enthusiastic sold-out crowds. The response has been so great that our classical music program, led by Artist-in-Residence and Artistic Director Susan Ellinger, will continue to expand by adding a series of family matinees to the upcoming 2012/2013 season.
This past years events have included a concert of works for solo piano spanning classical to jazz, by renowned film composer Mario Grigorov alongside Artist in Residence, Susan Ellinger, a violin and piano duo with Candace Guirao, Assistant Concertmaster of San Francisco’s New Century Chamber Orchestra, a string quartet performance with Aspen Music Festival’s Ars Nova Quartet, epic piano trios with Des Moines Symphony’s Julie and Alan Henson, and most recently, rising opera star Shana Blake Hill joined Susan Ellinger at the piano in a concert of intimate art songs and works for solo piano playing to a sold out crowd of local classical music enthusiasts. The series hosted Denver’s Flute and Guitar Duo, Musette, presenting and special multi-genre concert of classical, jazz and blues music. And this summer we rounded out the season with Aspen Music Festival’s artist/faculty and cellist Darret Adkins joined by Susan Ellinger in a concert of works for cello and piano. All of our artists presented commentary to an appreciative audience talking about the music they performed and lending an even deeper appreciation and profound experience to our listeners.
Join us for our final concert of the 2011/2012 season as we welcome Aspen Music Festival’s Center for Advanced Quartet Studies participants ARNEIS QUARTET to the Blue Sage Center in a concert of works for string quartet. The group will perform works by Schumann, Mozart, and Czech composer Erwin Schulhoff. Join us for our final concert in a season of sold-out shows.
Season passes are on sale now for our 2012/2013 season. See you at the next show!
