Collection Pieces and Wearable Art
Living in Colorado for over 35 years, Tess Backhus is inspired by nature in the creation of her one-of-a-kind necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Tess brings together color, texture, history and good energy into wearable art, accepting the gifts of the mountains, deserts and oceans that are an integral part of her design path.
Tess selects her stones and other materials in limited quantities, uncompromising in delineating each piece with distinctive qualities. Her Collections incorporate semi-precious stones, vintage pendants, unique found objects and artifacts, as well as pearls, minerals, along with traditional and modern accents. Often a piece will emerge from an unusual and rare stone that simply calls to her.
With a profound respect for the diverse cultures that have incorporated adornments for centuries, connecting beliefs, traditions and family histories, Tess continues to learn about how ancient techniques have evolved, reinforcing her belief that jewelry expresses something deep within all of us. She has embraced and accepted this knowledge and understanding have moved her to collect and create from the beginning. Tess is continually grateful to combine her love of nature, harmony and style into a passion that feeds her soul, while bringing joy to others.
A featured jewelry artist with clients from New York to Colorado to California and abroad, Tess regularly presents an extensive one-of-a-kind and limited- edition display of her newest designs, which are shown nationally through galleries & trunk shows.
